    The worldwide voluntary organisation Amnesty International has worked since 1963 to expose and combat fundamental violations of human rights by governments. Among the organisation's goals are the release of people who have been incarcerated on account of faith, origins, sex, religion, language or convictions, fair trials for political prisoners, abolishment of capital punishment, torture and other cruel and inhumane treatments of prisoners.
